Servicing
Regular servicing of engine fluids and consumables is essential to keep your vehicle running in top condition. We are experienced at servicing all makes and models of vehicles so you can count on us for all your vehicles servicing needs.
Why it’s important to regularly service your vehicle
Engine oil lubricates the inner workings of your car’s engine. Over time oil degrades, becoming thick and sludgy or is lost due to combustion and even leaks. If the oil is not changed then eventually it will no longer be able to do its vital job of lubricating the moving parts of the engine. Filters in your car’s engine, cabin and fuel system eventually become clogged and can restrict flow to essential components.
The vehicle manufacturer will publish the details of your vehicles service requirements and the recommended intervals. It is usually quoted as period of time in months or up to a certain number of miles - whichever comes first. We recommend consulting our experienced service department to advise exactly what work your vehicle requires and when it is due. We can also schedule this work for you in a service plan to match the manufacturer's recommended service schedule.
When does my car need servicing?
The manufacturer will usually publish the recommended service intervals for your vehicle in the front of your service book or online. Service intervals vary between manufacturers, from model to model and even by engine type. It is important to service your vehicle at the right time. Our service team can advise you what the service interval for your car is.
Other indicators that your car may be due a service:
Service light on
Most modern vehicles will display a message or service light to indicate that a service is due. Sometimes this will be calculated based on the current date and mileage. Other vehicles may measure the volume and quality of the engine oil to let you know when it is time for a service. Your vehicle could display a spanner light or a message reading ‘Service due’.
Checking your engine oil
It is recommended to check your engine oil at least once per month. If the level drops too low, or if the oil is becoming dark, thick and sludgy, then it could be time for a top up or service.
Engine knocking or smoking
If your engine is making a knocking sound or producing blue/grey smoke then you may be in urgent need of a service. Contact us to get your car properly diagnosed straight away.
